TH-PVP is a new research chemical with a chemical formula of C19H27NO, a CAS number of 583123-2-1, molecular weight of 285.420. The systematic or IUPAC name is 2-(pyrrolidin-1-yl)-1-(5,6,7,8-tetrahydronaphthalen-2-yl)pentan-1-one.

The chemical is so new on the market it is difficult to know the medical uses or other property of TH-PVP until more controlled research has been completed. The closest we can get to is by looking at the analog of TH-PVP with is a-PVP.

a-PVP was created in the 60’s and has similar properties of TH-PVP, therefore there could be some similarities. The one thing you must remember when you are seeking research chemicals is that just because they have an analog that has years of research and may be used medically, does not mean that this new research chemical will produce the same effects. This is the main reason that research chemicals are NOT intended for human or animal consumption.

The analog of TH-PVP is also known as α-PVP, alpha-PVP, alpha-Pyrrolidinopentiophenone, Prolintanone, α-Pyrrolidinopentiophenone, O-2387, β-keto-prolintane, and Desmethyl Pyrovalerone and is in the family of cathinone class known to be a synthetic stimulant research chemical.

Predicted research on the analog of TH-PVP was published by US Environmental Protection Agency’s EPISuite, ACD/Labs’, and ChemAxon.

The research published by the US Environmental Protection Agency’s EPISuite for the analog that is similar to TH-PVP showed a melting point of 96.11, the boiling point of the research compound analog of a melting point of 96.11 to be 326.57, and was water solubility at 25 deg C (mg/L): 139.4. Removal in wastewater treatment is very important due to environmental issues. The a melting point of 96.11 analog showed a removal in wastewater treatment showed total biodegradation at .29 percent, total to air at 0.01 percent, total removal at 26.14 percent, and total sludge adsorption at 25.84 percent.

The one thing you must remember if you plan to purchase TH-PVP is that you should learn more about the laws in your country. The analog that is similar to TH-PVP with a legal status of a Class B in the UK and a Schedule 1.

TH-PVP has not been regulated in most countries at this time, but could be placed under the Synthetic Drug Abuse Prevention Act of 2012 in the United States, which has a specific area for synthetic drugs under SEC. 1152 that states the Addition of Synthetic Drugs to Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act. If TH-PVP is listed as a schedule I chemical it is due to the fact that research has not been done to be able to accept the research chemical for use in medical treatment or there is lack of acceptable safety use under the supervision of a physician and that it may cause at least a possibility for abuse.

TH-PVP is only intended for usage in forensic and scientific laboratories until more is known regarding the medical aid as well as ease of addiction or abuse of the research chemical.
